28 Saudi companies will participate at GITEX Dubai 2014, to be held between 12 and 16 October. These companies will showcase in the Saudi Pavilion which is run by the Saudi Exports Development Authority "SAUDI EXPORTS". The Saudi consul in Dubai, Imad Madani, opened the Saudi Pavilion in the presence of the cultural attaché Dr. Saleh Al Suhaibani, at the Dubai World Trade Exhibition Centre.

GITEX is one of the most important annual trade exhibitions of computers and electronics around the world. The one-week event will be held this year under the slogan of "Re-imagining our future world". The show is expected to receive more than 142000 visitors and experts in the fields of information and communications technology from around the world, including 25000 senior executives. 3,700 exhibitors from 61 countries will showcase their products during the exhibition.

Participation by "SAUDI EXPORTS" aims to encourage Saudi companies to export in implementation of the vision of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, relative to the importance of information technology, the role it plays in enabling community development, the advancement of the economy, pushing up the income level and improving the competitiveness of the country. The Kingdom intends to assume a major role in developing new and innovative technologies within the next few years. This comes at a time when the IT regional market is now poised for a big leap, from $ 15 billion in 2014 to $ 20 billion in 2020. This leap is backed by wide investment in smart technologies and infrastructure from the government sector, the largest and fastest growing specialized market in the region, according to the International Data Corporation, "IDC".

The "SAUDI EXPORTS" is seeking to promote exports by encouraging national companies, particularly small and medium size enterprises, through the specialized international exhibitions. These exhibitions would be appropriate platforms to promote the Saudi products and highlight their quality. The Authority provides a range of services for the participating enterprises, including designing of the public Pavilion for Saudi industries, provision of a special space for each participating plant and shipping samples of products. These services are provided to open potential markets for export. This would achieve a broader contact with existing and prospective customers, and provide an opportunity to get to know the competitors to help them develop their products and services to meet the requirements and develop their competitiveness.
